COACHING PHILOSOPHY: Growth and Improvement comes with being uncomfortable.
I believe that in how we choose to improve, whether in life skills, or any profession we pursue. We have to stay in a form of unrest, and uneasiness while still being passionate in what we love. Being stagnant and comfortable with where we are, we won’t be able to move forward in pursuit of what we desire.
Volleyball at all levels, and all ages. We find ourselves competitive in one way or another. The constant battle of success and failure. We always want to do better day by day. At the same time I hope to contribute to a positive culture and love for volleyball itself. Coaching is where I find my way of passing on my love for the sport.
SPECIALIZATION: My favourite thing to train is passing and setting. Key to any good volleyball is getting down to basics. Without a good base we end up struggling more at the more advanced skill sets progression. There is always something to learn from basics that can improve yourself overall as an athlete.
PERSONAL NOTES: Quick introduction, growing up I was never a sports athlete. All my friends growing up were all talented athletes. Only in highschool did I start playing sports. I got into badminton, swimming, and later on volleyball. A friend introduced/asked me to join the volleyball team given that they were short of players that year. Although a rough start, I fell in love with the sport and community it brings. I’ve been playing ever since! Participating in drop-ins, leagues and even tournaments with new found friends. It never gets dull, the competitive fun and motivation for improvement is always there!
Outside of coaching, I tend to spend more time playing and/or watching volleyball. Whether that is playing in a league with friends or supporting them in their leagues. I find myself loving volleyball that much. Beside that, I get myself involved with my love of cars and stay active where I can within the automotive community. I keep myself active at the gym, strength training when I am away from sports. As well, spending time with friends and making memories is where I find myself most days.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY: I am still so new to the coaching world, so I feel as though I am still learning what my personal philosophy that guides me really is. What I do know, is that I believe in leading by example, and encouraging both the successes of your athletes and the mistakes. Not to dwell on the failures, but be brave enough to look them in the eye and learn from them.
No player is perfect, and that’s more than okay. You just have to be willing to try. I think that’s something I’ve come to love the most about coaching so far - being able to watch athletes go for it even if they make a mistake, then try again anyways. I truly believe its the best thing you can do in order to get better, and seeing that improvement come over time is always so rewarding.
It’s cliche, but there really is no “i” in the word team, and for me, helping others instill that comradely and sportsmanship is just as important as solidifying skills. Yes its volleyball, but its also so much more than that. Its communication, problem solving, teamwork, things that shape young lives on and off the court. At the end of the day, its about improving and reaching new goals together. Athletes, and coaches, can always learn more and share with each other, and I’m excited to continue to do so with LVC.

SPECIALIZATION: As someone who grew up as a middle, my passion is definitely based around that action at the net. I love the fact that as a middle you get the opportunity to make so many different decisions, and can play that ball in so many different ways. From swinging to tipping right in the perfect spot, to getting that giant block that goes straight down, it’s definitely what gives me an adrenaline rush, and gets me the most excited when I’m on the court.
PERSONAL NOTES: A bit about me!
Compared to a lot of others, I actually didn’t join the world of volleyball until high school where I dove head first into every activity I could possibly manage. If I wasn’t on the court, you could find me in the studio putting in hours towards my 12 years in competitive dance, on the ball diamond, or in the music room participating in 4 choirs and a band. I had my feet dipped in so many different areas, but loved every minute of it. Volleyball however always seemed to hold an extra special place for me. I never grew up playing club like the other girls, nor did I have the same skills, but I found myself on the team and playing for the next 4 years anyways.
After high school, I attended Brock University where I studied therapeutic recreation in the hopes of creating a future in working with children and youth, and these days, I am still playing and pushing myself to learn more about volleyball both on the court, and in the sand! Discovering beach volleyball through working at the Beach Hangar has been another amazing experience I never thought I would find myself in. Coaching there, as this season's head coach at summit, and assistant coaching at LVC, I am so excited to have the opportunity to learn more and have volleyball as my regular every day.
